"e unibus pluram": taken from "e unibus pluram: television and U.S. fiction" in A Supposedly Funny Thing I'll Never Do Again (1997) by David Foster Wallace. Wallace in turn lifted the title from Michael Sorkin's "Faking It" in Watching Television (1987).
