Robert McCormick
An active performer, he has performed with the Harry Partch Ensemble, the San Francisco Symphony, and several other orchestras under such leading conductors as Seiji Ozawa, Michael Tilson-Thomas and Robert Shaw. He served as principal percussionist of the Florida Orchestra from 1975 to 1996. Well represented on recordings, McCormick has credits on the Arista, Columbia/Sony, GM, Continuum, Centaur, Nuema and HoneyRock Labels. He has authored several articles, solos, and two well known percussion texts: Percussion for Musicians (Warner Bros.) and 32 Duets for Percussion (G. Schirmer). McCormick's recent feature compact disc, The McCormick Duo: Premiers Plus One, with flutist Kim McCormick, has received high critical acclaim. As a conductor, Robert has recorded over a dozen CDs with the USF Percussion Ensemble, bringing the group to the attention of composers and musicians from around the world. A noted teacher, many of his students have gone on to successful careers in the percussion field. McCormick currently serves as an artist-clinician for Zildjian
