David Rogers
He holds degrees in composition and theory from the Eastman School of Music (B.M., Ph.D.) and New York University (M.A.), where his teachers have included Robert Morris, David Liptak, Louis Karchin, Samuel Adler, and a number of Pulitzer-Prize-winning composers. He has taught theory and composition courses at the University of South Florida since 1998, and has recently joined the management of The Florida Orchestra. Rogers has performed on a number of instruments (including horn, accordion and piano) around the country at such prestigious venues as the Hollywood Christmas Parade, the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, the Knitting Factory, and Buddy Cline’s cow pasture. He currently plays these and other instruments in Tampa pop/rock band Handshake Squad, and works as a freelance music editor for private clients and music publishers. |
